The name Mark Zuckerberg is synonymous with Facebook. And Facebook is synonymous with today's social life.

If it wasn't for Mark's genius and audacious invention, our world wouldn't have taken this connected shape. We are now literally living in a small world.

Anything happens in any corner of the world, we can see it and learn from it. The platform created by Mr Zuckerberg has changed our lives for good.

His service to humanity does not end just at Facebook. He has several projects in motion to make this world a better place.

But the price of success is a lot of mistakes and Mark has committed his share of them. His life was always subject to controversy, nonetheless, he always moved past them.

On his 34th birthday, I muse on the idea what if Mark Zuckerberg was never born? What this world would have missed.

Facebook has solved the problem of networking around the world. People can connect to almost anyone on the planet and share their knowledge and life on both personal and social front. If not for Mark, this giant network wouldn't have existed.

The instant gratification of like button has a revolutionary effect on all the social media networks. Without this feature, people would not be able to interact with status updates and posts. In the end, it's all about likes.

Memes are like a bridge that makes a connection between people who share the same interests. You can put a picture of a dog wearing shades and put it to context with a text "This is how I look in shades." What would we do without memes? I have absolutely no idea.

It is because of Mark Zuckerberg we are able to share our lives with our friends and family on a daily basis. Where are we travelling, our favorite songs, our graduation photographs, our celebrations, new hairstyles, and anything else we like. What a boring world it would be without sharing.

There has been a revolutionary rise in knowledge of truth. We are a transparent and informed generation. In old times we were unbeknown to the events around the globe. Today we are able to witness the problems across all continents and build a society that solves them. For example, when the Egyptian revolution to overthrow the president broke out, the entire world stood along with Egyptian public.

Today's connection among people is unprecedented in history. On the medium provided by Mark, people can mark themselves safe (if they are) in an emergency situation or a natural calamity. This feature has been very useful in recent years in the harrowing terrorist attacks like Paris, and natural disasters like Nepal Earthquake.

Mark Zuckerberg and his wife have founded a limited liability company which aims to "advance human potential and promote equality in areas such as health, education, scientific research and energy."  Mr. Zuckerberg intends to raise $1 billion of Facebook shares to be invested in CZI. This project will open doors for every child to get the opportunity to explore his full potential. And to create a society that is just for all people in equal.

There are dark sides to social media too. It can be addictive and destructive. We live in a time of social insecurity, youth is driven by the idea that their presentation holds a higher value than their morals. There is a need to be accepted by everyone which never happens, and young ones lose the belief in themselves. If Mark had developed a different business and sharing model, we could have avoided this major issue.

Yes, you read that right. If the reports about Cambridge Analytica violating the US Presidential elections are right, things in the US would have been different. This deliberate mistake will haunt Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook for a long time.
That's all, folks!
