90 percent of the time Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival remains in the spotlight for celebrity parties, fights, breakups, and patch-ups, but this year 90,000 people enjoyed what they come for, and that's music. Though, I think they did not deserve it.
With headliners including The Weeknd, Beyonce, and Eminem, the festival was about to be one of the bests of all time, and it indeed happened. But, they were not the only reason, many artists including Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Dr Dre and 50 Cent made surprise appearances making the festival memorable.
So, without further ado, check out the best moments from the festival.
Cardi B is almost everywhere nowadays. On Saturday, Jay-Z was seen blessing her and her soon-to-be-born baby at Beyonce's set by rubbing her baby bump. Even when she was on the stage during her performance, she was twerking despite pregnancy. The 25-year-old rapper brought many artists during her performance including Chance the Rapper, 21 Savage, G-Eazy, and Kehlan
What a moment it would have been for Coachella when last year's headliner, Kendrick Lamar came out to perform with Vince Staples and SZA. And, if you are unaware then, Kendrick recently created history by becoming the first rapper to win the Pulitzer Prize for his fourth studio album, DAMN.
'Queen of Coachella,' that's the status Beyonce has achieved after her historic performances on the first and second weekend of the festival. There have been many great moments including Tupac Shakur's resurrection and Prince's cover of 'Creep,' but Beyonce made sure that she makes her first performance as Coachella's headliner memorable and unforgettable. She not only mesmerized the world with her performances but also thanked Coachella for making her the first black woman to headline the festival.
Now, don't tell me you did not want this. On both the weekends, Beyonce brought out Destiny's Child, Jay-Z and her sister, Solange Knowles for the performance. Beyonce and Solange even had a funny moment when they both fell on the stage after Queen Bey tried to pick her younger sister up. But, if I rewind both the sets of Queen, the festival was certainly Beychella.
After releasing an emotional EP a few weeks back, The Weeknd took the same thing on his set while headlining the Coachella. He performed, 'Call Out My Name,' which is said to be directed at his ex, Selena Gomez. During the performance, fans felt like he was crying. It was undoubtedly the most emotional moment of this year's Coachella.
The moment which every hip-hop fan waits for whenever Eminem is on the stage. The 45-year-old brought Dre on his set to perform legendary songs including Still D.R.E., Forget About Dre, California Love and even Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang (where Eminem rapped Snoop Dogg's part in his own style). Other than Dre, Eminem brought out Bebe Rexha on the first weekend and Rihanna on the second to perform, The Monster from The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
Slim Shady even collaborated with Skylar Grey to perform Walk on Water and Stan. It was certainly the most star-studded set in the history of Coachella.
Another performance which Stans were waiting for. Eminem called out 50 Cent to perform, Patiently Waiting on both the weekends. Every single hip-hop fan wanted them to hit the Coachella stage together, and Slim Shady didn't disappoint his Stans.
Eminem's set had many memorable moments one of those was when his friend and member of his band, D12, Denaun Porter read mean tweets to him. It was really funny to watch, but Eminem, as usual, did not give a shit.
Coachella 2018 was undoubtedly supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, but the crowd was dead AF.
That's all, folks!
