Though our life is moving at a supersonic speed, it always takes out time to listen to some music. Another year is about to end, and as always music industry has given us some of the best songs and albums that we will listen for the years to come. And if you are a fan of Eminem, you'll taste Revival before the end of the year.
This year, many great albums were released, but the spotlight stays on the hip-hop genre. There was a time when no rap album used to make into the list of best albums of the year, but we have more than one this time. Almost every genre is currently going through its best phase.
So, as we are going to see new music releases and Grammy has already announced the nominations for the year, we also thought of presenting you with the list of five best songs and albums that were released this year.
Let us talk about the best albums first.
This one from Migos is really funny. The hip-hop trio has been making hits, but they were not able to cement themselves as one of the greats, but Culture has certainly solved their problem. They have become 'something from nothing'.
Everyone needs help, and everyone feels lonely. Well, these are some of the topics which SZA talks about in the album. This young R&B singer has an amazing storytelling ability and if you doubt me then listen to 'Supermodel' in which SZA talks about how she kissed her ex and also revealed about the cheating which she did on him with his friend. Simply commendable!
No hype, no tension and frankly, no one expected the release of 4:44. I mean, people were expecting a reply from Jay after the unanswerable questions asked by Beyonce on Lemonade and he did it. Jay not only talked about the infidelity but also told the world how he and Beyonce never left each other in their hard times. Really, the Michael Jordan of Rap gave a perfect treat to his fans and Beyonce.
Probably the best-named album on the list. I mean, what word can be a more apt description of youth's confused rush than 'Melodrama?' Lorde brilliantly depicts the angry thoughts and shy feelings of youth who want to create something everlasting and meaningful. The 21-year-old has started to show her maturity in songs.
If it is about outstreaming other artists or albums, this masterpiece from Kendrick has achieved everything. Damn is fiery and appealing that introduces to verbal, sacred, and lethal Kendrick Lamar. The record is amazing and especially the drops from Kid Capri. The 30-year-old rapper spits venom in every direction and still, gets praised.
Now, let us talk about the best songs.
Sampha's music has the power to touch your soul and this song does just the same. Every track on his debut album, Process was fantastic, but this one steals the spotlight. We can easily call it the piano ballad of the year.
No one expected One Direction's Harry Styles to release a long solo single from his debut album, but the star did it and nailed it to perfection. The apocalyptic ballad takes you in the 1970s.
Probably the most surprising hit of 2017, but a dominant one. The song peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and it was the first time since 1998 when a female rapper topped the chart.
Frankly, it was tough to decide between three songs, Supercut, Homemade Dynamite and Green Light. But, I am sure of my choice and it is too damn good. The song is a fantastic puzzle with beauty hidden in the lyrics. Lorde talks about her love which she lost.
An eight-minute explosion of Kendrick's career is Fear. The song is also the thesis of the album, Damn and if you think that the track is longer than you are probably wrong because it does not feel that way. It also gives you the most real and illest Kendrick Lamar.
Don't forget to tune in!
