Well, folks, that purple suit, evil red smile, white face and green hair; everything is coming back to the screen including the legacy which was set by Australian actor Heath Ledger which won him the Oscars even after his death.
According to Variety, the Joker is getting his own origin story, and the mystery behind existence is soon going to come out. That too without Jared Leto. Yes, Jared Leto may revise his role of Joker in Suicide Squad 2, but this time someone else is getting to wear the purple suit.
The Hangover director, Todd Phillips is already working on the film about how did Joker become the Gotham's most terrifying villain of all time. The crime, drama and thrill based film will be set in the backdrop of 1980s.
It is also revealed that Todd is in talks with Martin Scorsese to determine what role he would play in the production of the film.
Have a look!
That performance and looks of Heath Ledger flash in front of us. How can we forget the creepy smile? If Heath Ledger was alive, the standalone films about the existence of the Joker and his rise to power might have already become the highest grossing film of all-time.
Heath's death, fan following of Joker, and the super success of The Dark Knight film made the character so vast that no director in the past nine years has dared to touch the character to create a dedicated movie.
The character of Joker saw the tiny resurgence in the 2016 fantasy drama film, Suicide Squad in which Jared Leto played the role. Though film performed well at the box-office, there was no appreciation or either criticism was done on the Joker's part.
As if people just don't want to talk about Joker, because it doesn't have Heath Ledger playing it.
No doubt Joker's act is hard to follow, especially after the milestone which is being set by Heath who embodied the role. It's a kind of the role which can make or break anyone's career.
See below, how DiCaprio would look like Joker.
The Warner Bros. Studio and Todd Phillips have got Martin Scorsese to produce the film. However, it seems that money isn't the only reason why Warner Bros. approached Martin Scorsese.
The studio hopes that Martin may lure the best and his long time collaborator, Leonardo DiCaprio to play the role of Joker in the film.
Hollywood Reporter shared a report which says that other than bringing Leonardo DiCaprio on board, what else could be the reason for Martin to produce a comic franchise film which he has been avoiding all his life.
Well, it could be too early to predict if the legendary actor Leonardo DiCaprio will play the role of Joker. As Variety reports, no official offers have been made to the actor.
The two primary reason which may force Leonardo DiCaprio to say yes for this film could be his successful collaboration with Martin Scorsese in 'Gangs of New York,' 'The Aviator,' 'The Departed,' 'Shutter Island' and 'The Wolf of Wall Street.' And the other reason can be the fact that the actor has no film since he has won the best actor award at Oscars.
The news has already spread like wildfire, and the people of pop culture are pouring in their reactions to the news.
A Twitteratti, Paula Bateman doesn't look happy with the decision. People said Hollywood needs to stop turning every other actor into a comic character.
