In April, Aliya Shagieva shared a serene picture of herself breastfeeding her child in a bare body on social media where it turned into a major controversy, and she had to take this picture down following the comments that blamed her showing immoral behavior.
"This body I've been given is not vulgar. It is functional, its purpose is to fulfil the physiological needs of my baby, not to be sexualised," BBC quotes Aliya.
On May 10, 2017, an Australian Senator, Larissa Waters sparked the debate on how ethical it is for a politician woman to breastfeed her child in Parliament. And the lady faced a lot of criticism from other members of the Parliament.
In an interview, Ms Waters shared: "It's frankly ridiculous that feeding one's baby is international news. Women have been breastfeeding for as long as time immemorial. I had hoped to not only be able to feed my baby but to send a message to young women that they belong in the Parliament."
Another politician to do so is none other than Victoria Donda Perez. She was spotted breastfeeding her child while Parliament session was going on.
