Leaders have come and gone, but very few selected ones have made a mark in the world and inspired millions. But how do great leaders manage to become 'great' and influence the world?

Well today, this is what I'd like to talk about and throw some light upon the qualities and habits some of the greatest minds on the Earth shared!

#1 Communication

#1 Communication

Good communication is probably of the utmost importance for any leader. Passing on your thoughts and agendas precisely to your employees or teammates is highly essential for your company to move forward. Also, giving others to talk and being a good listener at times is very crucial. If you only pass orders without knowing the perspective of the other person, you can never succeed as a leader.

Approaching every new project with a new approach, keeping in my mind the necessities of your employees or teammates is quite thoughtful. You need to widen your perspective and give chances to others to state their opinions and even agree on working on their ideas. Remaining stubborn and closed to situations will hinder your progress and terms with others

Leaders are always admired by tonnes of people even before actually becoming a leader. This is what makes them a leader in the first place. For a leader, it is very important, to be honest as the honesty brings back honesty, cultivates a good working environment and sets certain benchmarks. Similarly, truthfulness brings trust!

You don't build a business; you build relationships and the people involved here, grow your business. One can network all that he wants but if as a leader; you aren't compassionate towards others, don't care about interpersonal skills and don't care about other people, there ought to be something wrong with the kind of leader you are! If you treat people better, they will always work more than what's expected of them.

Understanding that networking and relationships go hand-in-hand is a very important aspect.

You will need a team to succeed, no matter what you aim for. As it is popularly said, 'If you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far, go with a team", it stands cent percent true here! Trying to change the world or bringing a revolution all alone is like going to fight a war alone with a million people. Understand the importance of what a team can achieve together.

At the age of 87, Michel Angelo quoted, "I am still learning", and that speaks volumes. When life never stops teaching us, why do we stop learning? When every day is a new opportunity, why do we not cease the day? Learning is a never-ending process, and it continues to the day you die, it's your choice if you choose to keep up with it or not!

People will talk. That's what people are for! You do good, bad or worse, they will always have something to say, and that should not bother you; the good and the bad. Becoming imperturbable is the only option you can resort to when you dream bigger than what people think you can achieve.

#8 Perseverance

No great man has turned great and achieved success overnight. To build an empire, one needs sheer dedication, timely auditing and selfless determination. One will have to question himself at every step, before taking any important decision. If you aren't moving a step closer to your goal, it's time to change.

You might not be a funny person in general or sardonic for that matter, but you can always learn to see the lighter side if things. It might be a minor conflict or a life altering mishap; a little humour will keep you going even in the toughest of times. Learning how to joke around with your employees and colleagues shall eventually make your relationship a bit more casual and informal with them, which in turn will be beneficial for your business.

#10 Accepting Failure

You have to learn how to accept your failures and move on. Life is too short to be stuck and crib about one bad thing that happened to you! What if the idea you thought were a million dollar one, didn't workout and crashed badly, there is always another chance, it is not the end of the world. Only those who have tasted failure are the ones who thrive for success selflessly!

Nobody loves people who pretend to be know-it-alls and cannot accept their mistakes when wrong. Rather, if one accepts his/her mistake or fault or flaw, would be appreciated and loved more. At the end of the day, we are not perfect or know everything about everything and coming to terms with this fact, shall take us places.
