Two of them had been conjoined congenitally, and as it turns out, there are only a few documented cases of this happening. Jeff and Darla Garrison already had three sons,18-year-old Tyler, 14-year-old Matt & 13-year-old Luke. The Garrisons say they were really glad to have the girls in the family. 

They also suggested separating Macy and Mackenzie.

On September 10, 2003, Macy & MacKenzie were taken to Los Angeles Children's Hospital for an operation of 24 hours.

The surgery was a success, but the girls were left with only one leg.

Thanks to the custom-made prosthesis, they not only walk now, they even run!
