Father Requests Strangers To Photoshop His Daughter's Image And Gets A Heartwarming Response

A loss of life is always considered the hardest to deal with. We may mourn for a couple of days or years, but something which never changes is, the absence of that being. Losing a new-born child just after six weeks of birth is even harder. Yes, a couple from Kalida, Ohio lost their child Sophia in July of the year 2014. Well, one cannot always keep an eye out on what fate brings to an individual or family. This family who lives in the Steffel home had never imagined that they could lose their daughter Sophia after every attempt made to save her. Nathen Steffel, her father, was a Reddit user and was often impressed by the photoshop work he saw on the Internet. He made a request to the communities on the platform, and the response on that was extraordinary. This is what he requested after the demise of her beloved daughter as per CNN.

The cute kid!

Heart-breaking message from him:

Nathen Steffel posted a request on Reddit for digitally modifying the last picture of her daughter Sophia who lived only for 6 weeks. The response which he received was stupendous. Before you go through those brilliantly photoshopped pictures, the question arises, how did she die this early? What was that tragedy?

Mass on baby's liver

There was a mass developing on the baby's liver which the parents got informed about in one of the ultrasounds. To which they said, they'll keep her under observation as per the report of CNN. But, it turned out to be a life-changing tumour for the family's life.

Hepatic hemangioma

The tumour was diagnosed as the Hepatic hemangioma, a rare noncancerous tumour which causes heart failures and death in infants.

July 10, 2014

It was on July 10 in the year 2014 when Sophia Steffel passed away leaving the Steffel home. Though, the family of 4, Tristan and Owen (brothers) and Emily and Nathen (mother and father) now, got a lot of comfort from the users of Reddit worldwide after Nathen's post. This is what he asked:

Life-long admittance

"My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children's hospital. She was in the hospital her whole life and we were never able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes?" After putting up this request up Nathen received over 100 images.

Hepatic hemangioma

This image of Sophia was one of the images in which she was awake and that is the reason it meant a lot for her father Nathen. Being a member of Reddit online community, with high hopes he approached them and made a request.

Photoshop wonders

Steffel and Nathen later received many photoshopped images and sketches of Sophia which left him touched. The drawings and paintings were heart-warming. You weren't able to figure out till here that some of the images you saw were photoshopped, right? Well, browse further to see the creativity people came up with.

Nathen's Thank You note

Steffler thanked everyone on Reddit, he posted "This is really amazing. Everyone you have made my day. All I wanted was a nice picture. What I received was a lot of love and support from a bunch of strangers. Along with a lot of great photos, drawings and paintings. Thanks, everyone"

From colour to monochrome

Yes, the family still receives images of the kind. Some are in monochrome and some come with written wishes too.

Overwhelming response

While talking about the response, Nathen expressed that the response was overwhelming and initially he replied to every message received. In a telephonic interview, Nathen said, "We're still getting them today. From all over the world, I can't even read what some of them say."

It's not easy to get over such a loss but these responses managed to get the family some relief. They even received condolences with some of the photoshopped images.

In touch with others

Nathen tries to be in touch with parents who have been through a similar loss.
