Do you know that more people have actually reached the moon than the bottom of the deepest point in the sea? Yes, that's true. Seas, over the years, have intrigued many scientists and captured the imagination of a generation. The sheer vastness, the variety etc all make deep seas one of the most mysterious and mystical things on earth. And in the deep sea, the creatures look from bizarre to absolutely ridiculous. In fact, they look so scary that one could only hope that what he/she is witnessing is a nightmare. So, we at WittyFeed bring you a list of 15 such deep sea creatures, which will make you uneasy. Have a look.
A fish having the word fang in its name? Well, we'd maintain distance with it. It lives about 16,000 feet deep and would eat almost anything that'll come its way. By now you must be aware of where the fish got its name, it's the long fang like teeth. Source
Dragonfish is one of the most ferocious looking creatures of the deep sea, thanks to its fang like razor sharp teeth, it grows upto six inches but above all, it has a long light producing organ called photophore. A scary fish, which produces light too? NOPE. Source
The angler is one angry looking fish. With a height up to five inches and the ferocity and the appearance to scare any person on the planet, the angler definitely makes a cut above the rest. The fish is also known as 'common black devil' and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to explain why.
One of the most wicked looking sea creatures, the viperfish can be lethal. Some viperfish are black in color and some have no color at all. To top it, their enlarged eyes, their teeth don't help with the looks either.
The gulper eel is straight out of nightmares as its large mouth can ingest creatures much larger in size than itself. I think, the razor sharp teeth won't let the eel win any beauty contests soon!
The giant squid is another one of the mysterious deep sea creatures and it can grow up to 60 feet. They are so scary and generate such intrigue because there have stories of people being eaten away by the squid.
The Giant Isopod is the biggest member of the isopod family and can be seen spending time in the deep sea, scavenging for food. At those depths, food is very hard to come by so it'll eat whatever that comes its way.
A fish with the word coffin in it? The name is as scary as the look and no, we won't want it on our plate.
Why would a sea creature have such a terrifying name? Is it because it looks like a creature, which emerged out of some radioactive reactor from a movie? The squid's body is covered with light producing organs, which it can turn on and off at will.
What do we say about this? Its nose resembles that of a supersonic jet and we don't even know where does its head begin? It looks like a combination of a fish and Platypus.
The megamouth shark uses its enormous mouth to tuck in the fishes in large quantities. Apart from being extremely rare, the shark is extremely scary too!
Eight arms, bright red color and it's an octopus! And did we tell you that they glow in the dark too? Well, they do and hence they feature on our list.
The blobfish doesn't look nearly as scary in the sea as they look outside. In the sea, it has to adapt to the pressure and as a result, its muscle tissue weakens so when exposed to outside environment, it turns into this crazy mess.
When they say that don't judge a book by its cover, the Hatchetfish is the quintessential example of it. Despite the horrifying looks, the fish is completely harmless.
Pacific Blackdragons aren't as scary as they look or their name is. A male Pacific Blackdragon doesn't have any teeth and hardly lives long enough to mate. Did you like the content? Make sure to like, comment and share
