Heart-warming Pictures Of Animals Rescued From Hurricane Harvey

Ever since the Hurricane Harvey has struck the southern, Texan coast of America in the late August, the country has been rendered devastated from all the damage in the wake of the disaster. The residents of the ground zero have been in a panic and have evacuated their homes to reach a safer place. Amazingly, more and more people are chiming in for the help of the victims bringing humanity together. Not just the parts that were struck by the hurricane are affected, but the whole country is visibly shaken by it. The officials promptly mobilized the rescue forces to aid through evacuations. But amidst all this panic and chaos, we cannot overlook those who have been equally phased by the disaster but are barely ever done something about.Yes, I am talking about the helpless animals that have fallen victim to the tragedy. But as expected, humanity stands by them and takes a heart-warming step towards our little companions.(Images courtesy: Southwest Airlines)

Hurricane Harvey

Ever since it's strong arrival on the Texan coastline, Harvey has caused nothing but destruction. Streets have flooded sub-merging the houses by masses and caused problems throughout the danger zone.

The reunion

Not only the people, but the animals as well have taken the mighty blow of nature. It's not just us humans who have lost their homes and shelters, they too have suffered the loss but couldn't cry as loud as us to be heard over the chaos. But the after-effects of the hurricane has clearly affected them as much.

To the rescue

But it would be entirely wrong and unjust to say that their cries weren't heard of. People not only strived for their rescue but even established shelters for them to stay in and wait out 'Harvey'.

Animal rescue shelters

Many such facilities have been provided where the scores of animals have been brought in to be kept healthy and safe until it's safe for them. People are volunteering along with various animal-protection societies to step up for the help of these innocent beings.

Southwest Airlines to the aid

And one such support has come from an airline 'Southwest Airlines' as they took a great step in support of the animal protection societies. Dozens of animal crates packed the cabin of a donated San Diego-bound Southwest Airlines flight, thanks to volunteers with the airline and various animal rescue groups.

Those efforts

As the local shelters were cramming with animals, they sought help from those out of the town. But still, transport was a big hurdle, which wasn't just crossed but in fact, was flew over with the help of the airlines - quite literally.

With love and care

It was wheels up for around 80 orphan dogs and cats this week as they were flown from overcrowded shelters in storm-hit Houston to new lives in California. The rescued animals were already in Houston shelters when the hurricane hit with all force. They were transported to San Diego to relieve strain on Houston's shelters.

The warmth

The airline partnered with the San Diego-based Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC), which will care for the animals until they're adopted. Four medical personnel from HWAC flew to Texas previously to help the organization and provide medical care for shelter animals.

Operation Pets Alive!

“There are shelters that have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey, without electricity, without supplies,” said the center’s president and CEO Mike Arms, who worked in partnership with Texas rescue group, 'Operation Pets Alive!'Source

Overwhelming number of orphan dogs and cats

“Operation Pets Alive! has taken in an overwhelming number of orphan dogs and cats who had inhabited those shelters before the storm and were suddenly facing euthanasia simply because they had no place to go,” Mike said in a release.

A heart-warming act

"The airlines tweeted, along with the photos that "With the help of Helen Woodward Animal Center, Southwest was able to transport dozens of cats and dogs that were relocated due to Hurricane Harvey."

Humanity at its best

They also told that "After Harvey, many existing shelter animals in affected areas had to be moved to other cities to make room for pets of displaced families."Source

A great movement

Even with the devastation at the doorstep, these people didn't abandon the sense of humanity. And not just for fellow humans, but by giving these animals a helping hand, they have set an example of goodwill for the rest of the world.

Well done, Southwest!

Despite being a great help in the rescue, the operations are still on, and it is required for yet more people to come up and support the animal shelters as much as the rescue operations. Remember, those who work for a good cause need all the help they can get.Spread the word of goodwill among your folks by sharing this article.
